B-022: THE INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVE AGREEMENTS ACT, 1675 - Speaker Rejo - 09-30-2019 Quote: Parliament will now come to order to consider this bill, presented by the Prime Minister on behalf of the Government. The Chair now recognizes The Prime Minister. RE: B-022: THE INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVE AGREEMENTS ACT, 1675 - Alfonso Velez - 09-30-2019 Madam Speaker, I commend this short, common sense bill written by my friend, the Secretary of the Interior, which asserts Parliament's important role of scrutinizing the Executive by making sure that it is kept in the loop of promptly after diplomatic agreements are finalized. This bill is written in such a way that doesn't disrupt the Executive's role in foreign policy, and is also written to provide that sensitive agreements may be considered in executive session and with strict secrecy so that there aren't security concerns with these disclosures. I invite the Secretary of the Interior to speak further to this bill, and ask for Parliament's support in endorsing this critical oversight process. RE: B-022: THE INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVE AGREEMENTS ACT, 1675 - Speaker Rejo - 09-30-2019 The Chair now opens the floor for general debate. All members may offer debate or amendments at this time. Debate shall last for no less than 48 hours. RE: B-022: THE INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVE AGREEMENTS ACT, 1675 - Seydlitz - 10-01-2019 Madam Speaker, The measure now being considered by this honorable House is simple. No official, not even the head of government, may bind the nation to any agreement, unless the nation - as vested in this honorable House, its duly-elected representatives - consents. This measure ensures the respect and preservation of the constitutional order, asserts the rights, privileges, and duties of this honorable House with respect to the executive branch of government, and reassures the sovereign people of Alduria that check and balances do exist in our proud democratic republic. I yield. RE: B-022: THE INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVE AGREEMENTS ACT, 1675 - Speaker Rejo - 10-03-2019 All time for debate has now expired. The question is: Shall Parliament pass the pending bill?
