Defense Readiness Condition (DEFCON) - Alejandro Campos - 04-16-2019
The defense readiness condition (DEFCON) is an alert state used by the Republic of Alduria to indicate the state of defense readiness of its armed forces.
The system prescribes five graduated levels of readiness (or states of alert) for the Aldurian military. It increases in severity from DEFCON 5 (least severe) to DEFCON 1 (most severe) to match varying military situations.

Levels from lowest to highest:
- DEFCON FIVE - FADE OUT - Lowest state of readiness - Normal readiness;
- DEFCON FOUR - DOUBLE TAKE - Increased intelligence watch and strengthened security measures - Above normal readiness;
- DEFCON THREE - ROUND HOUSE - Increase in force readiness above that required for normal readiness - Air Force ready to mobilize in 15 minutes;
- DEFCON TWO - FAST PACE - Armed forces ready to deploy and engage in less than 6 hours;
- DEFCON ONE - COCKED PISTOL - Maximum readiness. Immediate response.

Due to the imminent threat posed by the invasion of Togafaga by the Iron Company and our friendship with the Florian Republic, the Republic of Alduria's armed forces are now at DEFCON 2.
The Aldurian Navy is specially instructed to be ready to set sail with short notice and to increase patrols of Aldurian trade routes.
