IGNACIO RIVERA CHOSEN BY THE ANA TO SERVE AS INTERIM LEADER

PUNTA SANTIAGO, ALDURIA -- Ignacio Rivera has been chosen by the Aldurian National Alliance to serve as interim leader until the party chooses a new one.

Rivera is an MP from the state of Napoleon and is seen as a protege of the previous leader, Robert Beaumont. Beaumont resigned after the 1682 election, where the party saw large gains in Parliament but failed to break out of third place. Beaumont was dogged by scandal during the election, namely the revelation of an affair by Aldurian tabloids.

MARKETS STABILIZE, REMAIN CAUTIOUS AS ZIMMER MOVES TO REASSURE

PUNTA SANTIAGO, ALDURIA -- Shares in the Aldurian Stock Index have stabilized and are set to make some modest gains after a recent address by Prime Minister Zimmer that sought a difficult balance of reassuring the markets while throwing a bone to the Aldurian left.

In a special address, the Prime Minister reassured markets that "I will not nationalise everything left right and centre", but still affirmed that "health care, water, oil, and education" will be nationalized.

"Overall, my message to the market is, things will be different yes. But that doesn’t mean the alternative approach we will bring won’t be better. I want a fairer country, but we can’t do that without a strong economy. So I ask businesses to support us while we are in government and see what benefits it can bring to everyone. So we have a fairer Alduria, for all," said the Prime Minister.

Despite all the fanfare from a chorus of left-wing pundits and political activists, Zimmer and his government has begun to quietly signal to business and policymakers that he will invest in the productive sectors, reign in corruption, and get austere with the government spending he deems useless to running the country.

“It turns out he’s going to try to be a fiscal conservative. He's painted grand plans but now he's facing the reality of governance, and with a minority government, he may not have much of a choice. Maybe the market should give him more credit for that,” says Jean Halton, senior portfolio manager for Alduria Investment Management (AIM), one of the nation's biggest investment advising companies.

Moreover, the Aldurian economy is expected to expand at a moderate pace. The outlook for corporate earnings growth in 1683-1684 remains strong, according to AIM analysts.

ZIMMER DIES FROM GUNSHOT WOUNDS, MBAPPE NAMED CARETAKER PRIME MINISTER
Valenciana, Valenciana -- Prime Minister Marco Zimmer has died after a gunman shot him twice in the head and once in the chest while visiting the Hospital of Our Lady of Santa Catalina in Valenciana.

Despite receiving quick care from doctors in the hospital, little could be done for the Prime Minister. After a priest from the Church of Alexandria priest was summoned to administer the last rites, Marco Zimmer was pronounced dead.

The Prime Minister's body will be brought to Valenciana Airport and placed on the Prime Minister's private plane. It will be there where Deputy Prime Minister Kylian Mbappe will swear in as Prime Minister in an oath administered by a local judge summoned for the tragedy.

Less than an hour earlier, police had arrested Frederique Bonchamps, an unemployed man from Norvind, Altus that had ties to a militant alt-right organization called the Altusian Revival Movement. He is held for the assassination of the Prime Minister in the Valenciana City Jail.
