INAUGURAL ADDRESS
My fellow Aldurians,

On this day, we observe not a victory of parties and politicians, but indeed a celebration of our liberty, of our democracy, of the rule of law. This ceremony symbolizes both an end and a new beginning, a renewal of our country.

The spirit of Alduria prevails. And with leadership, courage, and determination, it shall prevail for much longer, our nation as a beacon of hope, liberty, and peace in Micras.

We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of some of the greatest Empires and Kingdoms Alduria have ever seen. In our hands lies the destiny of a beleaguered people, and I know too well the work we must put in together to make this country safe, prosperous, and free.

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we will never hesitate to pay any price, bear any burden, and meet any challenge in order to assure the survival and success of our Republic and its people.

We shall continue in earnest the hard work of building a fair, free, and just society, where its citizens can rise and prosper, assured that their rights and liberties are henceforth protected by a government committed to order, equality, peace, and good governance.

The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.

And so, my fellow Aldurians, I ask you today - what will you do today, and every day, for your country?

With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love.

My dear Alduria, may your banner yet wave.

Thank you for this honor.
Alejandro Jose Campos

Ander Avon-El, himself newly elected and inaugurated Prince of Elwynn, had been invited to attend Campos's inauguration. It was a great honour. Ander thought that Alduria and Elwynn had much in common, both were new states with a strong cultural foundation, whose economies were ravished by various circumstances but getting stronger by every day. Soon, in a few years, Ander mused, Elwynn and Alduria would be two economic powerhouses in the world. But what really sets Alduria and Elwynn apart from the rest of the world is their belief in democracy and human rights.

Ander listened to Campos's speech. He felt roused by it. If he were Aldurian, what would he do for his country? It's a question he reinterpreted to refer to Elwynn. As Prince, what can he do for his country? And as an Elwynnese leader, what can he do for Alduria?

Ah, friendship between Alduria and Elwynn is in sight. This invitation, though unexpected, is a testament to an informal alliance of democratic ideals. Alduria has a new friend: its name is Elwynn.

The newly elected Chancellor of Natopia, Ernesto de la Cruz, was in attendance, joined by his wife Adrienne, and his two children.

He led a delegation of other Natopian guests that included the Prince of Neridia and the Titular Emperor of the Alexandrians and their families.

His Serene and Eminent Highness the Prince of Molivadia, The Autokrator of Constancia, in his full regalia and wearing his Alexandrian decorations, was head of the rather substantial delegation from the neighboring Imperial State of Constancia. With his visibly-but-just-so pregnant consort Esmeralda al-Osman, herself dressed in the regalia of a Daryāsālār , they were living proof at how highly-esteemed the Constancians deemed their nascent neighbors, even if they chose the rather complicated form of government that was a pesky Republic.

The Constancian delegation had been helicoptered from the KP Týmpana-se-vathiá,  the Imperial Constancian Navy flagship and aircraft carrier that was just offshore Punta Santiago,  the same one that was accompanied by a small escort flotilla. The Autokrator had timed their liberty alongside the inaugural celebrations, subject to strict instruction that fraternization be an excellent demonstration of the best qualities of Constancia.

Along with the princely couple was Azardokht al-Osman, the Foreign Minister, Guglimundo Kupras, Minister of Munitions and Military Logistics, Mikhail Souvlakis, Minister of Finance and International Trade and Industry, plus the usual junket gaggle of Imperial Senators and ESB functionaries of varying ranks.

Sarah Dravot, Chairman of the ESB-Jörmungandr Group, led her own constellation of factotums, in a visible signal of investor confidence in the new Republic.

It wasn't just matters of state that brought him here. In a breach of protocol, he would personally hand-over the stylized invitations to his wedding, slated for an entire week in 1673, to the high officials of state gathered here.

He also wanted to kibitz with the Alexandrian royals and reminisce about the old times.

The Krasnocorian delegation was also present at the inauguration - the King Jovan I and Prime Minister Obrad Bošković have arrived first. Soon after Krasnocorian Ambassador to Alduria Marko Jakopovič joined them.

Alfonzo was present with a fetching young gentleman as his +1, much to the satisfaction of the tabloids and entertainment outlets who will no doubt dig more into this. Alfonzo sported an expensive tailor made tux with a conspicuous, old fashioned pocket watch hanging from his side, prompting even more coverage from the tabloids, fashion, and entertainment outlets with reception mixed between it being a "bold choice" or "stuffy".

It was noted by certain media outlets that Velez seemed to enjoy the ball much more than the speeches and ceremony. The tabloids also noted that he seemed quite keen to dance with all sorts of eligible bachelors at the ball and how, despite trying to "pause" his playboy image on the Campaign trail, "Velez is back to being Velez."
