The Cabinet: Composition & Political Leanings
#1
THE COMPOSITION OF THE CABINET OF ALDURIA

This thread provides the current list of Cabinet members, as well as their political/factional leanings for NPC Cabinet members. Player Cabinet members may PM me to add your own blurb to this post.

Alfonzo Velez: Prime Minister [L&D Party]

Velez is the leader of the "Practical Libertarian" faction of L&D which represents the largest faction in the Parliamentary party. This faction believes in adhering to Libertarian principles, particularly promoting personal liberties. Unlike the "Purist" wing of the party however, the "Practical Libertarians" believe in accepting compromises in the legislative process so long as basic rights & privileges are not infringed and are therefore more likely to support bills that may contain principles that they may otherwise object to on their own. The PLs have also made it a priority to push "L&D" into a "big tent" party to appeal beyond hardcore libertarians. This propelled the party to electoral success in the last election, but has angered the "Purists".

Tzvi Barak: Deputy Prime Minister & Secretary of the Cabinet  [NC Party]

Barak is the leader of the New Center Party. More information will be added upon request by NC.

Augusto Benavides: Secretary of State [Independent]

Benavides is an independent who served during the transitional Government and was invited by Velez to continue in the L&D-NC Coalition Gov't. More information will be added upon his request.

Adrian Gonzales: Secretary of Defense [L&D Party]

Gonzales is a Velez loyalist from the "Conservative" faction of the party. Gonzales has served as an important link between Velez and his "Practical Libertarian" faction and the Conservatives. Many people in this faction were former members of the National-Liberal alliance and appreciate L&D's commitment to Fiscal Conservatism. This faction can be resistant, however, to what it sees as extreme social liberalism. The Conservative faction is keen to maintain the support of former N-L members and moderate conservative voters. Their support for Velez is largely due to his efforts to make L&D a "Big Tent" party and his pushing back against the party purists--but some opposition may be expected from them for certain social goals of Velez that may anger Conservatives.

Dr. Bernadette LaVoy: Secretary of Finance [L&D Party]

Dr. LaVoy is the public face of the "Purist" wing of the L&D party. Dr. LaVoy is a brilliant economist of international renown and controversy, strongly adhering to a laissez-faire approach to regulation. The purist wing of the L&D party has tolerated Velez's rise to power, but views him with great suspicion. While on one hand the purist wing appreciates the gains that Velez has managed to bring to L&D and the influence that has brought resulting in L&D being in Government, they fear that his push to make L&D a "big tent" party will erode the fundamental principles that the party stands on. While they are not actively seeking to remove Velez (at this time), this faction is likely to push back against any policies it feels go against core Libertarian values and may be resistant to compromises that broach this area as well. Dr. LaVoy, the de facto leader of this faction, is likely to lead the charge for this faction, especially in Cabinet meetings.

Madeline Petras: Secretary of Justice [NC]

Ms. Petras represents the New Center party. More information will be added if provided.

Gerhardt Seydlitz: Secretary of the Interior [L&D]

Mr. Seydlitz is a member of the Liberty & Democracy party. More information will be added upon his request.
