Mr. President,

I nominate Ms. Maria Rejo to serve this body again as its Speaker. My Honourable Friend has served in the Chair with distinction during the last Parliament, and I have no doubt that she will continue to serve ably as an impartial and judicious moderator of our debates. Therefore, I commend Ms. Rejo to the House.

Mr. President, I object to unanimously appointing Ms. Rejo as Speaker. Instead, I ask for a roll-call vote of Ayes and Nays to either confirm her to the position or to reject her name outright.
