ELECTION CALENDAR
FIRST ALDURIAN GENERAL ELECTIONS, 1672
  • Candidacy paper filing will be open until Friday May 10th.
  • Saturday, May 11: Election begins! Both parliamentary and presidential elections are conducted.
    1. All political parties must submit their logo, a campaign platform, and narrative details about the party, campaign, and candidates to help form the party’s identity.
    2. Presidential candidates will have to also submit their campaign logo and platform. It will be expected that the platform of the presidential candidate will closely match that of the more broad platform that the party as a whole has adopted.
    3. Parties themselves will decide how to determine who will be their candidate. If a primary needs to happen, it will happen over the first three days of the campaign, with results at the end of those first three days.
  • Sunday, May 12 to Sunday, May 26: Each day of the campaign is one turn. Candidates and parties will have to have made at least some submission of material, speeches, or activities for them to advance and grow in the polls. There will be polling updates and commentary provided throughout the campaign. You can get away with losing turns or not submitting every day - but if you let it go for too long, it will start to hurt you electorally. Limit before you start to suffer at the polls: 3 turns/3 days.
  • Monday, May 27: Results! Will be posted in the forums, there may be a live results chat for the election on Discord.

Some quick points!
  • TODAY IS THE DAY CANDIDACY PAPERS CLOSE. They close at 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time.
  • First day of the election is tomorrow, May 11. Political parties and presidential candidates must submit their logos, platforms, and information on this day.
  • Clarification on missing days of the election: You only suffer if you miss 3 consecurive turns/days of the election. If you submit activity for one day, miss the following day, but come back on the day after that missed day with great content, you'll be fine! The point of this is to give things a more fluid and relaxed feel.

Remember when I said that candidacy filings closed?

Sike! Just kidding. They'll be open through out the election, so new people interested in participating can jump in and join the fun.

Some FYI's:
  1. This is the thread where all of these results will be posted in the forum: https://www.alduria.cc/showthread.php?tid=112
  2. The Aldurian Parliament has 252 seats. You need 127 seats for a majority (50%+1). Due to the nature of the Aldurian multi-party system, it's always going to be rather difficult for one party to get a majority outright. There will be a time period after results for parties to negotiate coalitions. Please let me know if for these coalition discussions you will need a private channel here or a private forum in the board. (Shameless plug: Private forum strongly preferred so we can get some posts going.)
  3. A coalition will need to be announced via press conference in the Beaulieu Park forum in the board. You will need to have put together a coalition agreement and post it for the public. You may enter into private agreements as well, but you will need to tell people how the coalition will work, who is in it, how disagreements are sorted, who gets what Ministry, and relevant information that should be public.
