Private Member's Bill Docket Thread
#1
Per Section IV, Rule 3 of the Rules of Order:

Quote:3. Each week, up to two legislative items may be brought forward at the request of the Government, with up to one additional legislative being allotted to a Private Members bill (or other legislative item) that has been endorsed by at least 35% of the Members of Parliament to be placed by the floor as determined by the Speaker;

In this thread, any individual may nominate a bill, resolution, or other legislative item to be placed on the next docket as a Private Member's Bill. In order for the nominated legislative item to be docketed, at least 35% of the Members of Parliament must endorse the bill. That doesn't mean they have to vote for it--but that they endorse it being presented to Parliament. The number of MPs that must endorse the measure is at least 89 members.

Party Leaders may indicate the endorsement of their whole caucus, or part of their caucus. MPs who aren't party leaders may only lend their individual endorsement, unless prior approval is given by the Speaker or an Admin.

To nominate a bill for a PMB docket, please link to a bill in the hopper. To endorse a bill for the PMB docket, please fill out the below form and post it below:

Bill Name:
[Party Leaders Only] How many members of your party endorse the bill?:

You may also withdraw your endorsement of a bill before it is placed on the docket. To do this, please indicate your withdraw and, if a party leader, indicate how many members of your party also withdraw.

Please PM me with any questions!
